Renee Kathleen Zellweger
Renee Kathleen Zellweger is a daughter
of Kjellfrid Andreassen, a former midwife and nurse from Norway. She was born
April 25 1969 in Katy. Emil Erich Zellweger, her father, is a Swiss-born
engineer. They got married in the year 1963. Drew Zellweger was Renee's older
brother. He is a marketing executive who was born February 15, 1967. Renee
became interested in acting at the age of 14 while working on the drama club.
In Austin, she also attended an acting course and decided to explore acting as
a profession. Following graduation, she wanted to pursue acting but Hollywood
is a tough city to get into, and so Renee decided to stay in Texas, and
auditioned for roles around Houston where she was able to land roles in movies
such as Reality Bites (1994) and Empire Records (1995). Matthew McConaughey
(another Hollywood rising star) was her friend while she was filming of Texas
Chainsaw Massacre II: The Next Generation (1994). McConaughey was working on a
project at the time which Renee was interested in. She tried out for, and got
the part in the film Love and a .45 (1994) that earned her enough critical
praise that she decided to relocate to Los Angeles. Her biggest break came when
she was cast in another part in The Whole Wide World (1996). Cameron Crowe was
busy casting Jerry Maguire (1996) in which she starred Tom Cruise. Crowe was
thinking about actors like Bridget Fonda (Camden Diaz), Winona Ryder (Winona
Ryder), and Marisa Tomei. Then he came across Zellweger's performance at The
Whole Wide World (1996). He attended an audition with Zellweger and was
convinced he'd discovered his Dorothy Boyd. Renee continued her popularity with
a few independent films and after receiving further critical praise, she felt
confident enough to reenter the realm of large-budget Hollywood films. Meryl
Streep played her in One True Thing (1998). She also starred alongside Jim
Carrey in Me, Myself & Irene (2000) and began to meet Jim Carrey
shortly thereafter. Bridget Jones's Diary (2001).
