Rachel Emily Nichols was born in Augusta, Maine, the daughter of Alison and James Nichols, a schoolteacher. The girl is of French Canadian, German and Irish origin. Cony High School, Augusta is where she earned a high jump medal. She went to Columbia University in New York City in which she completed a double major in economics and math. She began modeling, and launched an impressive career working for high-profile companies like Guess?, Abercrombie & Fitch and L'Oreal. Rachel was able to transition into acting after being given the opportunity to be a character in the HBO comedy Sex and the City (1998). Her first film role was Jessica Matthews in Dumb and Dumberer: How Harry met Lloyd (2003). Her popularity grew with roles in projects such as The Amityville Horror (2004), The Inside (2006), Alias (2002), and G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra (2009), Criminal Minds (2005) (a repeated role in the role of FBI Agent Ashley Seaver) and Conan the Barbarian (2011). Columbia University was her graduation with a double major in economics as well as math.
