Bonnie Wright

Bonnie Francesca Wright (born 17 February 1991) is an English model, actress, director, and activist. Her most well-known character is that of Ginny Weasley who is the Harry Potter film series's main character. Born in London, Wright portrayed the character for a decade, until she was chosen to play the character in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part II (2011). Wright has appeared in numerous independent films including Before I Sleep (2013) and The Sea (2013). The films received mixed praise. Wright made her stage debut as the lead in Peter Ustinov's The Moment of Truth at the Southwark Playhouse in 2013.Wright graduated from University of the Arts London in 2012 with a bachelor's diploma in filmmaking. She subsequently founded her own production company, BonBonLumiere, and began to make short films. Her first project in the direction of a director was the coming of age drama Separate We Come, Separate We Go (2012) featuring David Thewlis, which was released at the Cannes Film Festival to critical praise. She also directed Know Thyself (2016), which starred Christian Coulson, as well as Sextant (2016). Both were based on emotion and landscape. Wright's three-part series, Phone Calls, premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2017. Medusa’s Ankles (2018) starring Kerry Fox, Jason Isaacs and is based on A. S. Byatt's The Matisse Stories. She has directed music videos for artists Sophie Lowe, Pete Yorn, as well as Scarlett Johansson. Wright is an ambassador for Greenpeace, Lumos and has been recognized for her environmental advocacy.
